Box Score ABILENE, Texas – The Tarleton Texan baseball team extended its season-long win streak to five games with a 9-6 non-conference win over McMurry at Walt Driggers Field in Abilene on Tuesday.
The Texans (11-6-1) trailed 4-0 before battling back in the top of the fifth inning, putting up five runs to take a 5-4 lead. The War Hawks (8-10) scored a run in the bottom half of the inning, but an RBI-single from
Jared Musgrove pulled Tarleton ahead 6-5 and
Noah Ringenberger drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to extend Tarleton's lead to two runs, 7-5.
The War Hawks drove in another run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but
Troyal Yosko settled down to get three straight outs and end the inning. The Texans added a few more runs in the top of the eighth inning for insurance purposes and
Landon Thompson (S, 3) did the rest, shutting down the War Hawks in 2.0 innings of work to collect his third save of the season.
Seth Hallmark (1-0) picked up his first win of the season giving up just one run on two hits in his one inning of work. He exited the game after the fifth inning with a 7-5 lead to earn the win.
The Texans recorded 16 hits in the game with five of those knocks going for extra bases.
Nico Moran and
Fola Lajide each tallied three hits for the Texans on the day.
The Texans will have to a little over a week and a half before returning to action, hosting Eastern New Mexico in Lone Star Conference action on Friday, Mar. 15, in Stephenville. First pitch in game one of a four-game series is set for 3 p.m. that Friday.
