McNorton named volleyball All-American by Daktronics

Senior standout becomes first volleyball All-American in Tarleton's NCAA history

Nikki McNorton was named a second-team All-American middle blocker by Daktronics.

STEPHENVILLE - The awards are still pouring in for Tarleton senior athlete Nikki McNorton, who became the first TexAnn All-American in the school's NCAA history after being honored by Daktronics.

McNorton earned second-team Middle Hitter honors after leading the TexAnns in kills (325), kills/set (2.80), total blocks (164) and blocks/set (1.41). In addition to the All-American status, she was named the Lone Star Conference's Defensive Player of the Year last fall as well as first-team all-conference.

She becomes the first All-American in Tarleton's 18-year NCAA history, joining only Belinda Hardee as TexAnns to receive national recognition. Hardee was an All-American Scholar Athlete in 1993.

This is the second overall All-American honor for McNorton since coming to Tarleton prior to the fall of 2011.

As a junior, McNorton went to the 2012 Division II Track and Field National Championships where she finished third in the nation in the high jump en route to All-American status.

McNorton is currently competing as a member of the TexAnn track and field team and has already hit an NCAA provisional mark in the 100m Hurdles.
