THE GAME
The No. 9-ranked Tarleton State Texans (13-0, 2-0 LSC) will look to extend its school-record best start to a season as the team completes a two-game road swing with a contest against the Midwestern State Mustangs this Wednesday, Jan. 15. Tip-off between the two conference foes is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls.

Series Information
The Mustangs lead the all-time series 43-23, but the Texans won last year's series 2-1, downing MSU 75-60 in Stephenville and then again 53-50 in the LSC Championship Final in Allen. Tarleton lost the first game of the series last season, 50-34, in Wichita Falls.

The Mustangs have won three of the last five meetings between the two squads, but Tarleton has won six of the previous 10 meetings dating back to the 2011-12 season.

The Texans are just 10-24 all-time in Wichita Fall and have dropped two straight at D.L. Ligon Coliseum, but Tarleton is a .500 team when facing the Mustangs in Wichita Falls the past 12 games. The last Tarleton win in Wichita Falls was a 49-47 victory over the Mustangs back on Feb. 21, 2011.

Last Time out for Texans
The Texans won its first "road game" of the season, downing Texas A&M-Kingsville 103-84 at the Stienke Center in Kingsville. Tarleton shot nearly 61 percent from the field, 59 percent from beyond the arc and 85 percent from the charity stripe.

Scouting the Mustangs
Heading into Lone Star Conference play Midwestern State was 8-4 overall, but three straight league wins have the Mustangs 11-4 overall and atop the LSC standings at 3-0. MSU had dropped two straight before its current three-game winning streak.

The Mustangs are shooting 43.7 percent from the field, which ranks sixth in the LSC, but MSU's defense is limiting opposing offenses to just 39.1 percent from the field - and that ranks second in the league behind Tarleton (38.2).

MSU is shooting 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and just 63.8 percent from the charity stripe. The Mustangs are averaging 73.7 points a game and 41.7 rebounds per contest as well.

Senior guard Monzaigo Williams leads the Mustangs and ranks third in the LSC in scoring with 17.5 points per game. He leads the team with 70 assists and ranks third in the league with 4.7 assists per game. Williams also leads MSU with 31 steals and is 14th in the LSC with a 48.9 shooting percentage from the field.

Texans in the NABC Poll
The Texans retained the No. 9 spot in last week's NABC Top-25 Poll, with no changes being made to the top 10 spots in the rankings.

The Texans have been ranked inside the NABC Top-25 for 75 different weeks since making its first-ever appearance in the poll back on Dec. 17, 2002. Including this week, Tarleton has been ranked inside the top 10 for 43 different weeks overall.

Reisman's Hunt for 550
Head coach
Lonn Reisman now has 543 career wins heading into this Wednesday's contest in Wichita Falls. Reisman, who is in his 26th season with the Texans, now needs just seven more victories to earn his 550th career win. He would become just the 26th overall and ninth active NCAA Division II head coach to earn 550 wins. He would be the 83rd coach at both the D-1 and D-II levels to achieve the feat.

Reisman picked up victory No. 500 back on Jan. 21, 2012 when Tarleton defeated A&M-Commerce 78-53 in Stephenville.

The Texans are on a current 17-game home winning streak that dates back to Jan. 2, 2013. The 17-game home win streak is now the fourth longest streak in school history.

Since becoming a senior college in 1961, Tarleton has never opened a season better than it has right now. The Texans extended its best start to a season with a 103-84 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville and are now a perfect 13-0. Prior to this season the Texans had just two 6-0 starts and had never been 7-0 to begin a season.

Texan Basketball Nearing .500 Mark
The Texans are now just one victory shy from getting back to a .500 all-time record. Tarleton is 723-724 overall heading Wednesday's game following its 19-point win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Tarleton had an overall record of 180-498 before head coach
Lonn Reisman took over, but behind Reisman's overall record of 543-226, the Texans are finally on track to become a .500 team once again.

Texans Keep on Scoring
The Texans have scored at least 75 points or more in all 13 games played so far this season. The 13 straight game with 75 points or more is the longest such streak in school history.

The Texans return to the friendly confines of Wisdom Gym this Saturday, Jan. 18, to host Cameron in Lone Star Conference action. The Texans, who come into Saturday's game against the Aggies with a 17-game home win streak, will tip-off at 7 p.m. or 20-30 minutes following the TexAnns game against Cameron.
