Tarleton comeback attempt falls short in 64-59 loss at Texas Woman's

Wright, Bledsoe record double-doubles but TexAnns' rally comes up just short

Kathy Thomas and the No. 19 Tarleton TexAnns cut an 18-point second deficit to just two in the waning second of the game but ultimately fell on the road to Texas Woman's 64-59.

Tarleton kept it as close as eight with four minutes left to go before making one final run.

Trailing 59-50 with 3:44 left, Brianna Bledsoe and Meagan O'Dell connected on a layup and a 3-pointer on back-to-back offensive possessions to force a Texas Woman's timeout and bring Tarleton within four at 55-59 with 2:55 left.

After the teams traded buckets, Texas Woman's failed to convert its offensive possession and Thomas found Wright on the other end for a layup to bring Tarleton within a bucket at 61-59 with less than 20 seconds to go.

Up by two, Texas Woman's went 1-2 at the free throw line but Tarleton could not score any more as Texas Woman's held on for the win. Tarleton never held a lead or tied the score.
