SOUTHLAKE – Tarleton State fell in the Lone Star Conference Championship tennis match to Midwestern State Saturday morning.
Tarleton entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed in the South Central region but defeated the No. 3 seed, Cameron, yesterday and now await their fate in the NCAA regional tournament. The TexAnns have qualified for the national tournament in nine of the last 10 seasons.
Midwestern State took a big advantage by sweeping doubles play with all the matches ending in an 8-5 loss for the TexAnns. In singles, Midwestern State got a pair of quick 6-0, 6-1 wins in the No. 3 and 6 matches to complete the 5-0 sweep.

Alicia Perez was winning her No. 1 match 6-4, 4-0 when the game was called.
The qualifying teams in the regional tournament will compete for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Women's Tennis National Championship May 14-17 at Altamonte Springs, Florida.
