STEPHENVILLE – The TexAnn tennis team dropped the opening match in Lone Star Conference play against Cameron Friday at the Potishman-Lard Tennis Courts.
"We struggled all day with consistency and paid the price against a good team," said Tarleton head coach
Lance Drake. "On a positive note, we were able to find a way to pick up three matches in the loss."
Tarleton would two of the three matchups during doubles play against the Aggies, recording the lone win with the No. 1 pair of
Luiza Ferraro-Adas and
Ashleigh Elward securing the win by a score of 8-6.
The No. 2 pair of
Gabriella Jansson and
Ellie Stevens, and the No.3 pair of
Erika Richarme and Arianda Cabezas-Marti would fall by scores of 8-9 and 2-8, respectively.
In singles play, No. 3 Ferraro-Adas (6-4, 6-4, 10-5) and No. 6 Cabezas (4-6, 6-2, 10-4) recorded the second and third wins of the match for Tarleton reaching the final total of three for the day.
No. 1 Richarme (3-6, 0-6), No. 2 Elward (6-4, 6-1, 4-6), No. 4 Stevens (0-6, 0-6), and No. 5 Jansson (2-6, 2-6) would fall in their matches as Tarleton would fall to Cameron by a final score of 3-6.
Tarleton tennis will travel to Wichita Falls April 14 for the second match in Lone Star Conference play against the Mustangs of Midwestern State.
