WICHITA FALLS – Tarleton State dropped its second straight Lone Star Conference tennis match Tuesday evening with an 8-1 loss to Midwestern State.
Â
"Overall, I thought we played better tennis," said head coach
Lance Drake. "Opportunities presented themselves against a Midwestern State team with a lot of depth, but we just put ourselves behind the 8-ball with unforced errors."
Â
The lone TexAnn victory came in the No. 1-seeded battle of two of the top players in the South Central region.
Â
Erika Richarme, a true freshman from Montgomery, entered the match as the No. 16-ranked singles player in the region and squared off with the No. 12-ranked player in the region Taylor Coffman. The Tarleton freshman dropped the opening set 3-6 but rallied back to win the second set 7-5 and dominating the super-tiebreaker 10-3 to earn the win.
Â
The TexAnns dropped the remaining five singles matches as well as all three doubles on the afternoon. Tarleton will return to action this weekend to conclude the regular season with a Friday match at Texas A&M-Kingsville and Saturday's finale at St. Mary's.
