Box ScoreKINGSVILLE – Tarleton State tennis dropped its regular season finale Saturday afternoon with a 4-5 loss on the road to Texas A&M-Kingsville and will enter next weekend's conference tournament as the No. 4 seed.

Ellie Stevens pulled off a win in the No. 2 doubles battle against the Javelinas. The Tarleton tandem won their match 8-1 for the only TexAnn doubles win enter singles play behind the eight ball.

Ashleigh Elward,
Ellie Stevens and
Ariadna Cabezas-Marti handled their business in the No. 2, 4 and 6 matches for the TexAnns, but losses in No. 1, 3 and 5 made the doubles deficit too much to overcome.

Elward won her No. 2 match 6-2, 6-3 and Cabezas-Marti handled the No. 6 match by the same margin, but Stevens had to battle for every point in a 7-6, 6-7, 10-1 thriller in the No. 4 match.

For the TexAnns, Elward and
Luiza Ferraro-Adas wrapped up the season with the top singles marks for the season with a 9-4 singles record. Elward was 2-0 in No. 1 matches, 6-4 in No. 2 matches and 1-0 in No. 3 matches while Ferraro-Adas finished the season with a 1-0 mark in No. 2 matches and an 8-4 mark in No. 3.

The doubles tandem of Cabezas-Marti and
Erika Richarme finished the regular season with the top record on the team at 10-4, including a 1-0 mark in the No. 2 matches and a 9-4 record in the No. 3 matches.

Tarleton State will travel to Lawton, Oklahoma Friday morning for a 10 a.m. match with No. 14 Midwestern State to begin the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament. The TexAnns and Mustangs will play a semifinal match where the winner advances to Saturday's conference title game.
