STEPHENVILLE – Second-half shooting woes doomed Tarleton Saturday night against Cameron as the TexAnns dropped their third straight game with a 12-point loss to the Aggies in Wisdom Gym.

With the 83-71 loss, Tarleton falls to 6-6 on the season and 0-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

Tarleton came out on fire, shooting nearly 53 percent from the floor in the opening half including 60 percent from downtown. The TexAnns dominated the opening quarter 26-16 and went into halftime leading the Aggies 41-36. Meanwhile, the TexAnn defense held the Aggies in check from the floor at 37 percent including 30 percent on 3-10 shooting from downtown.

Bailey Wipff continued her dominance of the Lone Star Conference with 10 points in the opening half to give her 30 points in the first six quarters on league action this season. The junior from Lubbock ended with 18 points for the game to give her 38 points in the last two games against LSC foes. Meanwhile,
Ikpeaku Iwobi – who entered Saturday's game with a double-double in each of her last two outings against Cameron – made it three for her last three against the Aggies with a 13-point, 10-rebound effort. Iwobi had eight points and six boards in the opening half.

The second quarter was a different story, however, as Tarleton went just 18 percent from the floor on 7-39 shooting including a 3-11 clip from beyond the arc. Cameron outscored Tarleton 46-30 in the paint, won the battle of the boards 49-46, and forced the TexAnns into 17 turnovers.

Averie Mack, who earned her first career start, nearly recorded a double-double as the sophomore from Abilene finished with eight points and nine rebounds.
Breanna Fuller (9) and
Nia Jackson (8) combined for 17 points off the bench while
Morgan Ashmore (4),
Catherine Okwilagwe (4), and
Meagan O'Dell (3) chipped in a combined 11 points.
Shelby Mankins and
Tiara Tatum added two points each to round out the scoring.

Tarleton will stay home for its second straight home game with a Wednesday night showdown against Angelo State at 5:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
