Game 2: Tarleton 3, No. 25 Texas A&M-Kingsville 0
Blain Bagley dealt over seven and two-thirds inning of work while
Zach Freeman came on to get the final four outs and deliver a shutout of the Javelinas in the series finale Saturday afternoon.
Bagley, a senior left-handed pitcher, was masterful over his 28 batters faced – retiring 23, including a career high seven via strikeout. He allowed just six base hits and walked one. With two outs in the eighth, he gave way to Freeman out of the pen as the senior right-hander earned his first save of the season.
Tarleton broke through on the run column with a two-run single (one RBI) from
Forrest Perron in the top of the fifth. Perron laced a single through the left side to score
Zach Fleet from third as well as Matt Olive, who came in to score on a throwing error for a 2-0 Tarleton lead. Perron was one of two Texans with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 in the leadoff spot with an RBI.
Zach Fleet, who went 3-for-3 at the plate on the afternoon, drove in
Peter McMahon in the top of the ninth for an insurance run. McMahon pinch ran for Hasbrouck, who led off the inning with a double.
Dylan Kuhn was the only other Texan to get a hit in the contest, stroking a single to center in the seventh inning.
The Texans will return to action in Stephenville next weekend when they host Angelo State for a four-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
