PUEBLO, Colo. – Despite cold weather conditions outside in Colorado, the TexAnns were on fire inside the Pueblo Tennis Club as Tarleton defeated Colorado State-Pueblo 5-1 Thursday afternoon.

Tarleton jumped out to a quick 2-1 advantage in doubles action with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches.

The tandem of
Luiza Ferraro-Adas and
Elena Preadca in the No. 1 spot won 8-4 to win their seventh straight doubles match. Tarleton's top-seeded duo is currently the No. 7-ranked doubles team in the South Central Region. Joining them in the win column was
Ashleigh Elward and
Erika Richarme in the No. 2 match with an 8-0 sweep.

In singles action, Tarleton only needed wins from the top three matches to secure the win.

Elward, the region's No. 10-ranked singles player, handled the No. 1 match with a 6-3, 6-3 score while Richarme, who is ranked No. 13 in the region, took care of business in the No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-3 win. The final win of the day came from Ferraro-Adas with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 3 match.

Despite not playing full matches, Tarleton's
Ellie Stevens, Preadca, and Taylor Porter did play consolation matches. Stevens and Preadca won 8-3, 8-4 off the official record, while Porter fell unofficially 3-8.

The TexAnns will continue their tour of Colorado with a trip to Denver, where they will face off with a future conference rival, Western New Mexico, in a neutral site match tomorrow at 2 p.m.
