STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Tennis closed out the Lone Star Conference regular season with a 6-3 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.

The TexAnns jumped out to a 2-1 advantage in doubles action when
Elena Preadca and
Luiza Ferraro-Adas handled the No. 1 match 8-4 and
Ashleigh Elward and
Erika Richarme took home the No. 2 match 9-8 (7-5).

"The girls did a good job at in the first doubles by making adjustments to take controle of the match," said head coach
Lance Drake. "2 and 3 had too many unforced errors, but give Erika and Ashleigh credit for coming through and stepping up at the pressure moments."

After TAMUK took the opening match in singles play, Tarleton won four straight singles matches to pull away from the Javenlinas and close out the match.

Richarme won the No. 2 match 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Adas handled the No. 3 match 6-3, 6-2 while
Ellie Stevens fought hard for the win in match No. 3 with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. Preadca cruised through the No. 4 match winning 6-4, 6-0.

"We competed well in singles play," Drake said. "Kingsville did their best to turn the momentum. I thought we did a good job today of stopping them and closed out the match in strong fashion. We will keep striving to improve and hope to peak at the right time."

The TexAnns will travel to Dallas Baptist on Wednesday, April 20 for the final match of the regular season. The Lone Star Conference tournament begins on April 29 in Wichita Falls.
