FRISCO— The Tarleton track & field team competed in the inaugural Indoor Track and Field Classic hosted by the Dunamis Sports Group Friday.

"With all the delays, we had to show our tough mentality, "said head coach
Pat Ponder. "I feel like we were poised and competed well. Although we have a long way to go to get where we want to be, I am very proud of this team and the direction we are headed."

The Texans and TexAnns 4x400m relay teams both finished in the top eight. The women's 4x400 meter relay team (
Ashley Johnson,
Ariel Ballard,
Gretzel Jimenez, and
Arianna Stegall) finished in fifth with a time of 4:02.16. The men's 4x400 meter relay team (
Hawke Huntley,
Randall Kadlacek,
Hasan Mustapha, and
Colton Troutman) finished in sixth with a time of 3:24.21.

Both Texans and TexAnns finish second in the distance medley relay. The Texans (
Quenten Lassester,
Noah Collins,
Michael Simcho, and
Johen Deleon) finished with a time of 10:46.51. The TexAnns (
Gretzel Jimenez,
Ashley Johnson,
Arianna Stegall, and
Katelin Huckabee) finished with a time of 12:37.17.

Amy Reira placed eighth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:47.15.

Tarleton will head to Alamosa, Colorado February 18, where they will compete in the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
