STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton dropped a 6-1 decision to NCAA Division I Abilene Christian on the road Thursday afternoon.
 
Playing under Division I rules, the doubles matches counted as only one decision in Thursday's match – a decision won by Abilene Christian to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles. The doubles' pairings of Elena Preadca and Luiza Ferraro-Adas (2-6), Ashleigh Elward and Ellie Stevens (3-6), and Alicia Barbaroux and Tori Simmons (4-6) each fell in their doubles match.
 
In singles, Ferraro-Adas delivered Tarleton's only victory of the day with a 7-5, 5-7, 10-6 win in the No. 6 spot of the lineup. Meanwhile, Preadca (1-6, 0-6), Barbaroux (2-6, 4-6), Elward (1-6, 0-6), Stevens (0-6, 2-6), and Simmons (5-7, 4-6) each fell in the No. 1-5 matches.
 
Tarleton will return to Division II action this weekend when they host UT Permian Basin in the Lone Star Conference opener Saturday at 1 p.m. in Stephenville.
