ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tarleton kept its winning ways rolling as the TexAnns handled Ouachita Baptist to open up action at the OBU Quad Thursday afternoon.
"The girls played well," said graduate assistant coach Suzi Alcaraz. "We tried a couple of new things and they all handled their matchups with determination. Our girls took care of business."
Tarleton opened up with doubles action as
Ashleigh Elward teamed up with freshman
Tori Simmons for an 8-5 win in the No. 1 matchup while
Luiza Ferraro-Adas and
Ellie Stevens took care of the No. 2 match with an 8-0 sweep. Tarleton won the third set of doubles by default with OBU unable to field a third team.
In singles action, the teams only played the top four matches as Tarleton claimed two wins by default.
Erika Johnston handled the No. 1 match with a 6-4, 6-2 win while
Elena Preadca, Simmons, and
Alicia Barbaroux took care of the No. 2, 3, and 4 matches, respectively, with identical 6-1, 6-0 scores.
Tarleton will return to action tomorrow with a pair of matches, beginning with an 8 a.m. match against Southwest Baptist and wrapping up with a 2 p.m. match against Henderson State.
