STEPHENVILLE – Despite going up 2-1 after a thrilling doubles rally from Elena Preadca and Luiza Ferraro-Adas, the TexAnns couldn't hold on to their lead through singles play and fell to No. 24 Cameron 5-4 Wednesday afternoon.
 
"Overall, this wasn't a clean match for us," said head coach Lance Drake. "We weren't as 'match tough' today as we needed to be and we made too many unforced errors. Even with those errors, we still had a lot of opportunities but we let them slip away. We were able to go up after doubles, but we couldn't close the deal."
 
Tarleton's freshman tandem of Alicia Barbaroux and Tori Simmons took care of the No. 3 match with an 8-4 score to open things up before Cameron tied up the score with an 8-6 win in No. 2 doubles.
 
Meanwhile, the No. 1 doubles match was nothing short of spectacular.
 
Trailing the entire match going as deep as being down 6-7 in the match, Preadca and Ferraro-Adas rallied back with three consecutive game wins against the No. 24-ranked doubles tandem in the nation to put Tarleton on top 2-1 after doubles action. The No. 1 doubles match paired the No. 2 doubles team in the region from Cameron against the No. 4-ranked doubles team in the region from Tarleton.
 
The lead would not hold up, however, as Tarleton managed only two singles victories. Barbaroux won her match in the No. 4 match 6-4, 6-3 and Ferraro-Adas handled her No. 5 match 6-1, 6-1 for Tarleton's final two points of the afternoon.
