SAN ANTONIO – Tarleton fell in the opening round of the NCAA postseason with a 5-1 loss to host St. Mary's at Rohrbach Stadium Monday afternoon.
The Rattlers struck first with back-to-back wins to open doubles action, but the Tarleton twosome of
Erika Johnston and
Ashleigh Elward put together a furious rally in the No. 2 match to pull out Tarleton's lone win of the match. Elward and Johnston rallied from a five-set deficit to take a 9-8 win.
In singles, Tarleton suffered losses in the No. 1, 2, and 4 matches to secure the win for the Rattlers.

Tarleton earned the No. 4 seed in the South Central region last week, pairing them with St. Mary's in the opening round. This was Tarleton's 11th NCAA tournament appearance since Drake took over the program and the first since 2013.
