ADA, Okla. – Tarleton freshman Neetika Sud wasted no time in finding success at the college level as the newest member of the TexAnn lineup won the Singles Flight D Championship at the Oral Roberts Invitational to open fall tennis action for the purple and white.
 
Sud rolled through an opponent from host Oral Roberts 6-2, 6-0 before handling a member of the Central Oklahoma team 6-2, 6-3 to earn a spot in the flight title match. She faced off with Northeastern State's Emma Wamock in the flight championship and rallied back from a 4-6 loss in the first set to take the second set 6-0 and the tiebreaker 10-6.
 
She wasn't the only TexAnn to reach a flight championship game as sophomore Tori Simmons claimed a second-place finish in the Flight C Championship match after rolling through opponents from Oral Roberts (6-3, 6-4) and Northeastern State (6-2, 6-2) before falling in her third match of the weekend 6-2, 6-1 to Belka Gombarova of NSU.
 
Newcomer Sherine Salem won her Tarleton debut with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Oral Roberts to open Flight B while Erika Johnston advanced to the consolation championship game – no score was reported by the host for the consolation finals – with wins over Oral Roberts (6-4, 6-2) and Northeastern State (No Score).
 
Tarleton's only doubles win of the weekend came from the tandem of Simmons and Sud, who defeated Haley Morgan and Alison Powers of Central Oklahoma 8-5 in Doubles Flight B.
