TexAnns fall short on the road at Eastern New Mexico

PORTALES, N.M. – Tarleton's five-game winning streak came to an end with a 64-59 loss on the road to Eastern New Mexico on Thursday at Greyhound Arena.
 
It was the second time this season the TexAnns posted a winning streak of at least five games. The TexAnns (14-7, 8-5) struggled shooting the ball against the Greyhounds, connecting on only 30 percent of their shots and were out rebounded 49-23.
 
Mackenzie Hailey led all players with 17 points, while McKinley Bostad added 14 points and Katie Webster scored 13. The TexAnn trio were the only players to score in double figures in the game for both teams. Three players scored nine points to lead Eastern New Mexico.
 
Eastern New Mexico led throughout the game, including a 34-25 halftime advantage. The biggest blow for the TexAnns came in the first quarter, where the Greyhounds led 18-10. The TexAnns outscored the Greyhounds in the final three quarters, 49-46.
 
The Greyhounds' largest lead came with 8:34 left in the third quarter when they led 40-25. That's when the TexAnns made their push back into the game. A technical foul by the Greyhounds started an 11-1 TexAnn run over the next four minutes of play to cut the lead to 41-36. ENMU led 50-43 heading into the fourth quarter.
 
Bostad drilled a midrange jumper, followed by four straight TexAnn free throws to get within three at 52-49 in the final frame. Webster tied the game at 54 on a layup with 2:38 to go, and the TexAnns were once again tied at 58 on a pair of Tiara Tatum free throws with 1:05 remaining. The Greyhounds closed the game on a 5-1 at the free throw line to clinch the victory.
 
Kylie Collins added seven points, while Makaila Tyer and Trejouir Wilson each scored three points and Tiara Tatum added two points.
 
The TexAnns will travel to Western New Mexico on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. CST.
