Lubbock— Tarleton track & field wrapped up at the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier, the last meet before the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships, which are set to take place next weekend.
Dalton Stidham set a new school record previously held by him for the third time this season. The junior from Boyd placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional mark 8.00 seconds. Stidham topped his 14-day 8.10 record that he posted at the Texas Tech Open earlier this month.
Tarleton men's team finished the meet with five top-eight performances at the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier.
Quenten Lasseter and
Justin Botello both took home second-place finishes on the day. Lasseter competed in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:50.14 while Botello ran a 4:22.64 mile run.
Jarred Elizondo finished the mile run in a time of 4:25.22 that saw him a sixth-place effort.
Brandon Reasoner ran a time of 1:58.34 in the 800-meter run and placed seventh overall in his event.
The TexAnns had four top-eight finishes at the meet led by
Gretzel Jimenez with a career best time of 10:43.99, that saw her a second-place finish in the 3000-meter run.
Imani Williams followed right behind her in fourth-place with a time of 10:49.01, which is a new career time for the freshman distance runner.
Jasmine McQuirter finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17' 9.5" (5.42m) and
Andelynn Carlton rounded out the top-eight performers for the women. Carlton ran a 5:40.68 mile run and placed eighth overall at the meet.
Tarleton will return to Lubbock February 24 and 25, where they will compete in the
Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
