Lubbock— Tarleton's track and field teams wrapped up the final day at the 2018 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, with three medals and a new school record.
Dalton Stidham captured the silver medal in the final round of the 60-meter hurdles, setting a new school record with a time of 7.99. Stidham broke a nine-day record previously held by him (8.00). In the mile run,
Quenten Lasseter (4:22.21),
Jarred Elizondo (4:23.75),
Kyle Doty (4:28.47) finished fourth, seventh, and eighth for the Texans. Elizondo also finished seventh in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:00.28.
Anterius Brown and
Jamel Anderson both finished fifth in their events, Brown ran a time of 48.74 in the 400-meter dash. Anderson finished the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.92 seconds. The Texans 4x400-meter relay team (Brown,
Zachary Martinez,
Jevon Wallace, Michael Eschbach) also placed fifth at the meet with a time of 3:18.31.
On the women's side,
Gretzel Jimenez racked up two silver medals in the mile (5:16.16) and 3000-meter run (10:40.02).
Andelynn Carlton (5:28.45) placed fifth in the mile run, while
Imani Williams (5:29.78) placed sixth. Williams also finished sixth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:51.60.
The TexAnns 4x400-meter relay team (
Kara Bickham,
Kylee Ponder,
Andelynn Carlton,
Taylor Richards) finished sixth in 4:03.67.
In the final standings, the TexAnns finished fifth with 49 points and the Texans finished sixth with 48 points.
Those who qualify for the national meet for the Texans and TexAnns will compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships meet on Friday Mar. 9 and Saturday Mar. 10 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
