After its first top 25 win of the season, No. 4 Tarleton has another big test by going on the road to face Eastern New Mexico at Greyhound Stadium in Portales, N.M. The Texans will face the Greyhounds on Saturday, October 12 at 7 p.m. CST. Tarleton enters the game 5-0 on the year and 2-0 on the road while the Greyhounds are 4-1 overall and 2-0 at home.

Tarleton enters week five as the No. 4 ranked team in the nation after a 5-0 start. The Texans have been ranked in the top five for four straight weeks and the top 10 for six straight weeks. The Texans received a first-place vote in the AFCA poll for the third consecutive week. The Texans rank in the top 15 in the nation in four major categories: Total Offense: 2nd, 551.4 yards; Total Defense: 14th, 256.4 yards; Rushing Offense: 6th, 283.4 yards; and Scoring Offense: 6th, 46.0 points per game. The Texan offense has accounted for at least 420 yards in all five games, including three 600-yard games in wins over SFA (school-record 673 yards) UT Permian Basin (632) and Doane (609 yards). Defensively, the Texans have posted first-half shutouts in two of the last four weeks and the average halftime score in those four weeks are 33-3. The Texans enter week six with a 15-game regular season winning streak and have won 6 straight road games dating back to 2018. The Texans have also won 11 straight Lone Star Conference games dating back to 2018. The Texans are averaging 46 points and holding teams to 15 points while out-gaining teams in total yards 551-256 per game.
Ben Holmes comes in ranked second in the LSC with 1,287 passing yards and an LSC-leading 13 TD's, despite playing only the first half in two lopsided wins. Holmes' top targets have been

Ryheem Skinner and
Thomas McDonald lead a four-headed rushing attack with all four backs over 100 yards. McCants leads the way with 589 yards, 4 TD's while Banks has 435 yards at an LSC-leading 8 TD's. Skinner (144 yards) and McDonald (108 yards, TD) have also been weapons out of the backfield. Defensively,
B.J. Jefferson leads the team with 45 tackles and tops the LSC with 11 tackles for a loss. Jefferson also has a team-high 3.5 sacks.
Ronnell Wilson and
ChadWick Thibodeaux are right behind with 31 and 30 tackles, respectively.
Prince Robinson and
Benjie Franklin are tied for the team lead with two interceptions each, with both defenders recording a pick six.

ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico enters the game 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Lone Star Conference. ENMU has won two straight games and are 2-0 at home, having won five straight at Greyhound Stadium dating back to last season. Behind their triple option offense, the Greyhounds lead the nation in rushing yards at 419.6 per game. ENMU is averaging 36.2 points per game and giving up 33.6 points and 362.6 yards per game to opponents. Paul Terry leads the LSC in rushing yards at 887 with five touchdowns – an average of 177.4 yards per game. Quarterback Wyatt Strand has run for 483 yards and leads the team with seven touchdowns. Strand has only thrown 46 passes this year for 292 yards and three touchdowns – all to Zachery Fields, who has 175 yards to lead the team. Lamontre Huval leads the defense with 34 tackles.

Tarleton and Eastern New Mexico are meeting for the 28th time since they first played in 1961. The Greyhounds lead the series 15-12 but the Texans have won 12 of the last 15 meetings since 2001, including last year's matchup 48-28. The Texans are 7-8 in Portales but have won seven straight games at Greyhound Stadium.
