A&M-Kingsville is at the bottom of the LSC standings with a 1-6 overall record and 0-4 in conference.

Tarleton enters week seven as the No. 4 ranked team in the nation after a 7-0 start. The Texans have been ranked in the top five for six straight weeks and the top 10 for eight straight weeks. The Texans received a first-place vote in the AFCA poll for the fifth consecutive week. The Texans rank in the top 12 in the nation in four major categories: Total Offense: 4th, 536.9 yards; Total Defense: 12th, 265.0 yards; Rushing Offense: 8th, 272.0 yards; and Scoring Offense: 7th, 44.9 points per game. The Texan offense has accounted for at least 420 yards in all seven games, including three 600-yard games in wins over SFA (school-record 673 yards) UT Permian Basin (632) and Doane (609 yards). Defensively, the Texans have posted first-half shutouts in two of the last six games and the average halftime score in those six games is 31.6 - 5. The Texans enter week eight with a 17-game regular season winning streak and lead the nation with 12 straight home wins dating back to 2018. The Texans have also won 13 straight Lone Star Conference games since 2018. The Texans have also had road success, winning seven straight regular season road games since 2018. The Texans are averaging 44.8 points and holding teams to 15.4 points while out-gaining teams in total yards 536-265 per game.
Ben Holmes comes in ranked second in the LSC with 1,801 passing yards and an LSC-leading 19 TD's, despite playing only the first half in three lopsided wins. Holmes' top targets have been
Zimari Manning, who leads the LSC with 798 yards and leads the nation with 12 TD's, and
J.F. Thomas (550 yards, 4 TD).

Khalil Banks,
Ryheem Skinner and
Thomas McDonald lead a four-headed rushing attack with all four backs over 150 yards. McCants leads the way with 768yards, 7 TD's while Banks has 539 yards at an LSC-leading 9 TD's. Skinner (212 yards) and McDonald (159 yards, TD) have also been weapons out of the backfield. Defensively,
B.J. Jefferson leads the team with 61 tackles and tops the LSC with 15.5 tackles for a loss and 6.0 sacks.
Jai Edwards and
Ronnell Wilson are right behind with 47 and 44 tackles, respectively.
Benjie Franklin leads the team with three interceptions while
Prince Robinson has a pair of picks, with both defenders recording a pick six.
Tre Johnson and

Texas A&M-Kingsville enters the weekend 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the Lone Star Conference. The Javelinas have lost five straight since they topped Sul Ross State 72-0 for their lone win. TAMUK averages 26 points on 345 yards per game while giving up 36.5 points on 420 yards to opponents. Quarterback Cade Dyal runs the offense and has thrown for 1,278 yards and five touchdowns to go with 12 interceptions. Dyal's top target has been Devin Milburn, who has 310 yards on 32 catches and two touchdowns. Luis Lopez is the top running back with 404 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, Tre'Michael Tutt controls the defense with 78 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss.

Tarleton and Texas A&M-Kingsville are meeting for the 33rd time since they first played in 1970. A&M-Kingsville holds the series lead at 22-10. However, the Texans have won the last two meetings, including last season's 59-21 rout in Stephenville. Coach Whitten is 2-7 all-time against the Javelinas.
