Tarleton wraps up indoor preseason at Matador Qualifier

LUBBOCK – Tarleton's Track and Field teams wrap up their last preseason meet at the Matador Qualifier in Lubbock on Friday.
 
The top individual performer for Tarleton on Friday was Senior Rascellis Williams. Williams finished first overall in the high jump, hitting a NCAA Division II provisional mark, clearing 6'9.75". Williams qualified for the Indoor National Championships in 2017.
 
The Texans had eight top-10 finishers. Colton Wood placed third overall in the weight throw (42'5.50") and ninth in the shot put (40'9"), setting new career best in both events. Kendall Dearth placed sixth overall in the shot put with a mark of 48'2.50". In the sprints, Hayden Dibble ran a career best in the 60-meter dash placing fifth, running a time of 6.98.
 
The TexAnns had seven top-10 finishers. Gentrye Munden had the top finish for the TexAnns. Munden placed second overall in the high jump, clearing 5'0.25". Jacey Cate placed fourth with a mark of 4'10.25". Elena Reagan placed third in the shot put (36'11") and fifth in the weight throw (38'3.25"), setting new career best in both events. In the mile run, Karen James placed eighth (5:49.95) and Tara Wynne finished in ninth (5:59.08).
 
Tarleton will compete in Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Texas Tech on Saturday and Sunday, February 16 and 17.
