STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton ran its winning streak to 10 in a row with an 8-0 shutout of St. Mary's in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Rattlers. Tarleton was upended in the second game 10-2 in six.

For the second straight series,
Destiny Crumpley got things started with a bang.
Last weekend against MSU Texas, Crumpley homered in her first at bat of the series and Tuesday the streak continued as the junior from Little Elm teed off for a two-run job to put Tarleton on the board.
That 2-0 lead would carry into the third when Crumpley made it 3-0 with an RBI ground out and then
Karli Herron broke the game wide open with a two-run, opposite-field home run to extend the lead out to 5-0.
After
Tanna Huie drove in
Kadyn Kirkpatrick with a fourth-inning sacrifice fly, Tarleton headed into the bottom of the fifth holding a 6-0 lead.
Morgan Ling reached on a one-out single and
Kaylee Rodriquez stepped off the bench to pinch hit and walked things off with a two-run shot to left field to end the game early.
Tarleton managed eight hits for the game, led by a two-hit performance from
Amanda Conner.
Georgia Capell, Huie, Crumpley, Herron, Ling and Rodriquez each had one hit.
Meanwhile,
Jordan Withrow was dealing from the circle once again.
The junior right-hander improved to 12-3 on the season with a five-inning, two-hit shutout. She struck out two.
Game 2: St. Mary's 10, Tarleton 2 (6)
Tarleton committed four errors and struggled to string any offense together as the TexAnns saw their 10-game winning streak halted in a 10-2 loss to the Rattlers.
The Tarleton pitching staff allowed 10 runs in six innings, but only four were earned in the loss.
Tristan Bridges threw the first four and struck out five.
Rachel Williams (1.0),
Karlie Milburn (0.2) and
Julia Wernet (0.1) combined for the final two innings.
Georgia Capell had two of Tarleton's three hits for the day, including her 31
st career home run which tied her with Samantha Swanda and Alicia Petersma for the second-most in Tarleton history. She is now 10 shy of tying
Arianna Rodriguez for the most in program history.
Kadyn Kirkpatrick added a single to round out the offense.
Tarleton will travel to Odessa this weekend for a three-game series with UT Permian Basin, beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
