STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Texans fought hard against the Redhawks on Friday night, but ultimately fell short to the second ranked team in the WAC, Seattle U, 4-0 at home.
Tarleton (4-8-3, 0-6-2 WAC) were the first to put a shot on goal, courtesy of
Rylee Low. However, it would be the Redhawks, Caroline Penner, that found the back of the net first in the 23rd minute. Seattle U (9-5-2, 6-1-1 WAC) midfielder, U'I Kaaihue, would score her first of two goals in the game just six minutes later, putting the Texans two goals behind as the first half expired.
Just five minutes into the second half, the Redhawks' Taylor Marks would find the back of the net to make it 3-0 in favor of Seattle U. The Texans created numerous opportunities on offense and challenged the Redhawks ability to cross mid-field for much of the game. Ultimately, a second goal in the 65th minute from Seattle U's Kaaihue would seal Tarleton's fate.
Tarleton's
Jaycie Bass recorded one shot on goal while
Mikayla Kendall added seven saves to her resume. The Texans overall took eight shots and had two opportunities from corner kicks.
The Texans will host another top ranked opponent in Utah Valley on Sunday, Oct. 23rd at 1 p.m. CT, as they say farewell to their lone senior,
Kiki Baurmann, on Senior Day.
