LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Tarleton had consistent rounds from all five players at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, boosting the Texans to their best overall score of the season.
Tarleton Women's Golf shot +44 overall at Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Lakewood, Washington, Monday-Tuesday, at the tournament hosted by Seattle U. They bested their previous score by 20 shots (+64) to take 15th, turning in their best score to par since the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Oct. 11-12, 2021.
Just seven shots separated Tarleton's top four finishers across 54 holes, led by
Mathilde Brogens at +7 overall (77-71-75), a tied-29th place finisher.
Sofia Rodriguez found her groove to go tied-45th at +10 (76-73-77). Both
Elle Fox and
Rebeca Fernandez tied-67th at +14, with Fox shooting 80-73-77, Fernandez at 78-74-78.
Angela Inocian also had one of her best tournaments in her young career, but a scorecard issue made her Round 2 score of 78 disqualified, spoiling a what-should-have-been +22 (79-DQ-81) effort.
On the tournament as a team, Tarleton had its most success on Par 5's, going even-par throughout, the tied-fifth best score.
Brogens' 71 in Round 2 tied for the best individual score by a Texan this season. Rodriguez's Round 3 score of 73 was her best of the year, while Fernandez tied her best outing in Round 2 at 74.
The Texans have one fall tournament remaining on the schedule, the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic held at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, on Oct. 17-18.
