Tarleton State Women’s Golf set for fall finale at The Clash at Boulder Creek

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Women's Golf heads to Boulder City, Nev., for their fall season finale at The Clash at Boulder Creek hosted by Northern Arizona at the Boulder Creek Golf Club starting on Sunday.

For the third-consecutive fall, the Texans are heading to Nevada to take part in The Clash at Boulder Creek. Two years ago, the Purple and White posted an eighth-place overall finish shooting two-under as a team. In each of the last two years, the Texans have placed one individual in the top 20 with Mathilde Brogens leading the way in 17th in 2024 and Lou Deltombe placing 15th last year. Brogens owns the Texans' best mark at the event with a four-under, 212, in 2024.

The Texan lineup will feature all six golfers for the fifth and final time this final. Gina Chen will be competing out of the top slot. She is followed by Magda Domine. Chen and Domine have been the most consistent for the Texans this fall posting top 20 performances in three of the first four tournaments. Natalia Fiel Ros will compete out of the third slot, with Luchi Quiroga competing fourth. Filippa Mortensen, the two-time WAC Women's Golfer of the Week will compete fifth. Yanin Kongthawornwong will compete as an individual for the Texans.

This year, the Texans will be playing the three-round event across three days, starting on Sunday. The first round will begin with a shotgun start at noon PDT, 2 p.m. Texas time. The second and third rounds will begin at 8 a.m. PDT, 10 a.m. CT. The Texans are playing in a 23-team field, their largest of the fall season. Tarleton State is the only member of the UAC competing in the event. Live scoring will be provided by Scoreboard by Clippd.

Last time out, the Texans jumped seven slots after the first day to tie for ninth place overall at the Golf Iconic Classic hosted by New Mexico State. The Purple and White struggled early on finishing the first day in a tie for 16th place shooting 17-over par. But the Texans leapt six slots in the final two days shooting just four-over across the next two rounds. The final day saw each of the top four Texans shoot a two-over par, 74.

Chen led the Texans for the first time this season, tying for 19th overall. It is the second time this season that Chen has placed in the top 20. Chen posted a 74 on each the first and third rounds with a one-under, 71, on her second round. Domine posted the second highest Texan finish placing in a tie for 26th. She posted the lowest round score by a Texan this week carding a two-under, 70, on her second round. Domine set a new season low round mark shooting her first round of 70 as a Texan.

Head coach Isabel Jimenez is in her ninth season at the helm of the program. The back-to-back WAC Coach of the Year spent all four years of her illustrious collegiate career for the Texans. During her time at Tarleton State from 2012-16, Jimenez was a four-time All-American and the No. 1-ranked Division II player in the nation her senior year, which led to her being named the PING Women's Golf Coaches Association National Player of the Year, the first in Tarleton State and Lone Star Conference history.
