Tarleton State’s Gina Chen tabbed UAC Women’s Golfer of the Week

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Gina Chen takes home the final UAC Women's Golfer of the Week for the fall slate as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

Chen becomes the second Texan this fall to earn the weekly honor. She joins Filippa Mortensen who won a pair of weekly honors earlier this fall. The sophomore earns her first weekly honor of her collegiate career.

"Gina has had a very consistent fall season being one of our top players every single event," said head coach Isabel Jimenez. "She is only in her second year as a Texan and is already paving a path for the team to follow. She has so much more game to show us and I am super excited to see it in the spring. It is a very well deserved recognition for Gina to end the fall season on a high."

The Taipei, Taiwan, native, led the way for the Texans in the second consecutive event to wrap up the fall at The Clash at Boulder Creek. Chen paced the Texans for the second consecutive tournament tying for 27th place shooting her best of the season an even par, 216.

Chen notched her lowest round of the fall and of her collegiate career, opening the event with a four-under, 68. She then carded a 76 followed by an even par, 72.  She tallied 11 birdies, with six coming on her first round. The sophomore strung together three birdies in a row on her first round and recorded three birdies across four consecutive holes in her final round.

Tarleton State Women's Golf will be back in action in 2027 for their spring championship slate. The Texans will look to defend their two-time conference title at the inaugural UAC Championships. The Texans' full spring schedule will be released at a later date.
