Schindler adds Liberty Hill standout Ailie Hair to 2022 class

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – For the fourth time in the 2022 recruiting cycle, Tarleton volleyball ventured to the Greater Austin area looking to bolster its roster ahead of the fall.

And for the fourth time, the program found exactly what it was in search of.

Head coach Mary Schindler announced the addition of Ailie Hair, a 6-0 middle blocker from Liberty Hill High School, on Friday.

Hair lettered three years for coach Gretchen Peterson at Liberty Hill, racking up a multitude of awards on the court and in the classroom. She helped lead the Panthers to a 75-31 record and three straight playoff appearances in her three seasons on the squad.

In her senior season, Hair was named to the 2021 Austin American-Statesman All-Central Texas Volleyball Team as an honorable mention selection. She also picked up Austin American-Statesman player of the week on November 2 after compiling 11 kills and 11 defensive touches – five of which were blocks – in a win over Cedar Park.

The win over Cedar Park catapulted the Panthers to a second-place finish in District 25-5A. Hair averaged four blocks a match and hit .400 throughout the 2021 season.

She picked up All-District honors in each of her three varsity seasons. Hair earned 27-4A first team honors as a sophomore in 2019 in the Panthers' final year competing at the UIL 4A classification. She added second team All-District honors in her junior season upon Liberty Hill's ascension to the UIL 5A ranks. She impressed further in her senior campaign in 2021, picking up 25-5A first team All-District honors.

On the academic side, Hair was named Academic All-District in all three seasons at the varsity level with the Panthers. She intends to study marketing at Tarleton.

Tarleton's 2022 recruiting class now sits at seven members. Hair is the second middle blocker in the class. She joins Emma Burke, who put the pen to paper in November. She is also the fourth player in the class that comes from the Greater Austin era, as she joins Joselyn Roberson who starred at San Marcos High School, Isabella Martinez who attended Pflugerville Hendrickson High School and Grayson Schirpik who prepped at Rouse High School. The Texans previously publicized the signings of Megan Hodges and Breanna McDonough as well.
