Mary Schindler announced on Thursday the signing of transfer Jaylibeth Garcia-Rosa to finalize the Texans' 2022 roster.

Garcia-Rosa, a 6-1 middle blocker, comes to Tarleton following a two-year run at Northwestern State (NSU) from 2020-2022. She started all 30 matches for the Lady Demons in the 2021 season. Garcia-Rosa led the team with 99.0 total blocks and led the Southland Conference with 37 solo blocks. The 37 solo blocks rank fifth all-time in the NSU single season history. Her 0.92 blocks per also earned her a spot in the top-10 of the Southland Conference statistical leaderboard.

The eye-popping stats did not stop there, as she added double-digit kills in seven different matches while also
impressing with a team-leading 30 service aces. Her 207 kills were the third-most on the squad. One of Garcia-Rosa's top matches of the season came vs. UIW on Nov. 4, when she totaled 15 kills, six blocks, three digs and an assist to help NSU secure the win.

On Nov. 15, Garcia-Rosa earned Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after compiling 14 total blocks over two matches. In a match vs. Nicholls, Garcia-Rosa posted 11 blocks – the second-most in all-time individual match history at NSU – to become the fifth player to ever reach 11 blocks in a match.

Garcia-Rosa appeared in every match during the spring 2021 season as a sophomore and totaled 30 kills and 13 total blocks in 29 sets played.

Her academic prowess was on display as well, as she earned 2020-21 Southland Conference Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll honors.

Prior to NSU, Garcia-Rosa played one season at East Carolina. She appeared in 16 matches and 35 sets as a freshman, totaling 10 kills and seven blocks.

Garcia-Rosa hails from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. She played four years at Bayamon Military Academy in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and seven years of club volleyball for VolleyTop.

She helped lead Puerto Rico to fifth-place at the 2018 North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) U20 Championship.

Garcia-Rosa will study criminal justice at Tarleton.
