- This marks the sixth all-time meeting dating back to 1995. GCU is 5-0 all-time against Tarleton.
- Tarleton last hosted GCU on Jan. 8-9, 2021, for their first conference games as members of the WAC. In last year's game in Phoenix, Shamir Bogues had 14 points (7-8 FG) and three steals.

- Lue Williams – After being held scoreless in four minutes at CBU on Jan. 21, Williams went for 25 points in 39 minutes on Thursday. He's Tarleton's leading scorer in conference play at 13.1 PPG. He's accounted for more than a third of Tarleton's three-point makes this year, making 32-of-78 (.410).
- Garry Clark – Clark has his first career stretch of scoring 10+ point games, averaging 13.0 points on 9-of-17 (.529) shooting, plus 4.5 RPG over the past two. Per 40 minutes, Clark has the second best rebounding average on the team at 8.8, only behind Rod Brown at 9.6.
- Shakur Daniel – Daniel just played the full 40 minutes once again, the sixth time he's done so this season. Daniel is averaging both the most minutes in the WAC overall at 35.7 MPG and in conference play at 38.7 MPG. Nationally, he's 35th in minutes per game.
