STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State will look to build off their already successful NCAA Division I era starting in January. The Texans are 46-21 (17-3 WAC) through their first three years at the Division I level, winning the WAC regular season in 2022.
The Texans will compete in 20 contests this season, 12 of those being home matches giving Texan Nation plenty of opportunities to come out and support the Purple and White.
"We can't wait to get back on the court in January," said head coach
Elianne Douglas-Miron. "The girls have put in a lot of work over the last few months to be ready to compete. We have a great schedule with lots of home matches which will be an advantage for us."
The Purple and White have two seniors on the roster this year in
Martha Makantasi and
Elsa Boisson. They will suit up for their final season this spring.
"Martha and Elsa are coming up on their last season," said Douglas-Miron. "As sad as it is to think that this will be their last semester on court in Stephenville, they have so much left to give to this program and will be ready to fight when our first match rolls around."
The season will commence just nine days after the Texans start the new semester. The Texans will start off with a bang hosting a doubleheader on Jan. 20. They will host Weatherford College at 11 a.m. before welcoming Collins Community College to town at 2 p.m.
Following the doubleheader home opener, the Texans will head west to Conference USA member UTEP. The Texans and Miners will face off at 1 p.m. CT. on Jan. 26.
After a showdown with the Miners of UTEP the Texans will continue their trek west as they will travel to one of the newest members of Conference USA and old WAC foe New Mexico State. The Purple and White will take to the courts at 11 a.m. CT. on Jan. 27.
Returning home from a trip to the desert, Tarleton State will host a three match homestand. The first opponent that will make the trip to Stephenville is Cowley College. The Texans will host Cowley on Feb. 2 at 11 a.m.
The middle match of the homestand will see the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts take a trip south to the home of the Purple and White. The Texans and Golden Eagles will face off on Feb. 9 with first serve coming at 1 p.m.
To wrap up the three match homestand, Tarleton State will welcome Texas State to town. The Texans and Bobcats will take to the courts at 1 p.m. on Feb. 11.
After three home matches, the Texans will hit the road for three. They will start off at Tyler Junior College on Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. After a trip to East Texas, the Purple and White will head across state lines to Louisiana.
The Texans will first head to Louisiana Tech for a match on Feb. 16 at 12 p.m. The following day, Feb. 17th they will make the trip to Northwestern State for a matchup at 12 p.m.
In the month of March, the Texans will play five of their seven contests at home. This gives Texan Nation a great chance to catch the Purple and White in action.
"We have a very special group of girls this year," said Douglas-Miron. "They have very high expectations for themselves and for each other and I know we will put on a show for all the fans who come out to support."
To open up play in March, Tarleton State will host the Panthers of Prairie View A&M on March 1 at 1 p.m. The next team that will come calling will be the Roadrunners of UTSA. The Texans will host the Roadrunners on March 9th at 12 p.m.
The Mean Green of North Texas will be next on the docket for the Texans. UNT will come to town for a showdown with the Texans on March 19 at 3 p.m.
The Texans will hit the road for two matches, both WAC opponents. The first team that the Texans will make a visit to is the Vaqueros of UTRGV. The two will meet for a matchup on March 22 at 10 a.m.
The second WAC opponent the Purple and White will travel to is UTA. The Texans will make the short drive to the Metroplex where they will face off against the Mavericks at 11 a.m. on March 24.
After two contests on the road the Texans will play their last two matches of the month back in home territory. Utah Tech and Seattle U will make the trip to Texas for two conference matchups.
The Trailblazers of Utah Tech will make the trek to Stephenville on March 28. The Texans and Trailblazers will get underway with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m.
Two days later the Redhawks of Seattle U will make the trip down from the Pacific Northwest to sunny and hot Stephenville. The Red Hawks are set to face off versus the Texans at 10 a.m. on March 30th.
Three regular season matchups in April will wrap up conference play before the conference tournament, this year hosted by UTRGV.
The month of April will favor the Texans as they will play two of their final three conference matchups at home. This gives the supporters of the Purple and White a great opportunity to cheer on the Texans as they look to finish strong heading into the conference tournament.
The Ladyjacks of SFA will come calling on April 5th for a matchup at 10 a.m. The Texans will then move from one Purple and White school to the next. The Texans will travel to Phoenix looking to end their final regular season road trip on a high note. Tarleton State will look to take control of the Lopes when they face off at April 7 at 2 p.m.
The Texans regular season will wrap up back at home when the Wildcats of Abilene Christian take the drive down I-20. Tarleton State will look to tame the Cats on April 13 at 1 p.m.
Following the conclusion of the regular season campaign, the Texans will look to make a trip back to the Valley, this time with higher stakes. The conference Tournament will be held at UTRGV in Edinburg, Texas April 18-20.
