RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Tarleton fell in the series finale to California Baptist, 13-5, on Sunday afternoon at James W. Totman Stadium.
The Texans (17-16, 3-10 WAC) are still returning from California with their first WAC series win in tow despite losing the series finale to the Lancers (18-18, 10-8 WAC).
CBU scored nine runs in the fourth inning, building on a 3-0 lead they already held to go ahead 12-0 to essentially ice the game.
Piercen McElyea (L, 1-1) was hit with the loss for Tarleton, throwing 2.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits. He gave up five walks and struck out two.
Tarleton used four pitchers with the only one not allowing any runs being freshman
Reece Elston who tossed 2.0 scoreless innings on a lone hit, striking out three and walking one.
CBU had five players finish with multiple hits and four players with multiple RBI. The Lancer starting pitcher Spencer Bengard (W, 3-1) earned the win, throwing 6.2 innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits. He struck out five and walked none. Seth Mattox pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing no runs on one hit.
Tarleton scored first in the sixth inning with two runs and followed that with three in the seventh to make it a 13-5 game.

Alec Williams.

Jordan Andrade have one of his team-high two hits, an RBI single up the middle, scoring
Kooper Shook.
Mason Hammonds later doubled to right field to score Andrade and Miears.
The Texans were walked just once, striking out eight times. CBU was walked seven times and had three hit-by-pitch.
The Texans return to Stephenville for a midweek clash with Wiley College on Wednesday. First pitch is 6:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
