BLAINE, Wash. – Mathilde Brogens closed out her season with her two best finishes of the year, similar to the end of her freshman campaign last year.
 
In Tarleton's final tournament of 2022-23, Brogens paced the Texans at the WAC Championship for the second straight year. This was the first year Tarleton was eligible to participate as a team after sending individuals to the conference tournament the last two seasons unattached.
 
Brogens shot +8 (75-76-73) to place tied-11th, nearly identical to her +7 (77-74-72) performance last year that netted her eighth place. Sofia Rodriguez played in her third WAC Championship, carding +17 (80-75-78) for tied-33rd at Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club in Blaine, Washington, this go-round. Rebeca Fernandez (83-79-79) and Elle Fox (79-82-80) both tied-50th at +25. Tarleton's other two players didn't officially have tournament scores since they subbed for each other, but Angela Inocian shot 84-86 in the first two rounds and Alejandra Cambronero came on Tuesday to shoot 85.
 
In Tarleton's first official NCAA Division I conference tournament, they took 10th as a team at +75 (317-312-310). Sam Houston won the WAC Championship at +19, and California Baptist's Hailey Loh was the medalist at +2 (72-74-72), winning in a four-way playoff on the second playoff hole.
 
Brogens saved her best for last at the three-day, 54-hole event by shooting +1 (73) in the final round, going -1 over her last 14 holes. She had the tied-best score on Par 3's across the 57-woman field (63 with subs) at -2, tied with Seattle U's Rivekka Jumagulova. Brogens also had the tied-seventh most pars in the tournament with 35.
 
Rodriguez had her best round on Monday at +3 (75), turning in a clean card with just four bogeys.
