STEPHENVILLE, Texas – For the second straight offseason, Tarleton signed a transfer from South Dakota, as the Texans announced the addition of Kynlee Marquez on Saturday.
Marquez joins the Texans and will be a utility/pitcher. She spent a pair of seasons and 79 innings in the circle for South Dakota from 2022-23.
In her two-year career as a Coyote, she notched six wins with nine starts and a shutout. As a freshman she held a 0.99 ERA through her first 28 innings. The two-way threat hit .333 in her freshman season for South Dakota.
The Oxford, Nebraska, native, follows in the footsteps of
Grace Garcia, who also transferred to the Texans from South Dakota. Garcia burst on the scene in Stephenville with a perfect game and led Tarleton in wins this past season, going 13-9.
In Marquez's prep career, she was a two-time all-state honoree, hitting nearly .600 with 47 home runs. The two-way phenom also accumulated 49 victories in the circle and a 2.37 ERA. The three-sport athlete (golf, basketball) was also a member of the National Honor Society and was tabbed to the Academic All-State team.
Marquez intends to major in biology at Tarleton.
