The Texans will round out the weekend on Sunday with a match against Lamar

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Women's Soccer overcame an early deficit to draw 2-2 against Grambling State on Education Day on Friday morning at the Tarleton Soccer Complex.

With the draw, the Texans are 2-1-2 on the season, and the Tigers are 2-2-2.

Rylee Low became the second Texan to score her second goal of the season with a 56th minute free-kick goal.

Mila Bettinelli registered her first goal of the season. Avery Harr was credited with the assist, her second of the season.

Mikayla Kendall recorded seven saves for the second-straight match.

Grambling started the scoring with an early first half goal. A Khori Banks' cross found the foot of Beatriz Kretteis who netted her first goal of season in the fifth minute of action.

With five minutes left in the first half, Tarleton fired a flurry of shots, but was unable to find the back of the net and trailed heading into the half, 1-0.

Five minutes in to the second half, Nicole Fels found herself in a one-on-one opportunity. Her shot was blocked by Tiger defender Arianna Pratt.

Tarleton State knotted the match in the 56th minute off of a free kick by Low. From about 30 feet to the top right of goal, Low buried the free kick towards the waiting Texans' but she needed no assistance and scored for the second time this season.

The Tigers responded just seven minutes later, to take a 2-1 lead. After a pair of passes, Morgan Johnson got the ball in a one-one and put it in the bottom right of the goal to notch her first goal of the season.

Once again, the Texans scored to tie up the match. In the 79th minute, Bettinelli, last year's goal-leader, scored her first goal of the season. Off a pass from Harr, Bettinelli, was able to streak past the defenders and deadlock the score at two. Harr notched her second assist of the year.

Neither squad was able to push the needle and break the tie, resulting in a 2-2 draw, in the first meeting between the two programs.

The Texans out shot the Tigers, 16-14, the third time this season that Tarleton outshot their opponent. The Texans' also held the advantage in corner kicks, 7-1. Grambling held the advantage in shots on goal, 9-8.
