Tarleton Women’s Basketball takes on LeTourneau Saturday at Wisdom Gym

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton Women's Basketball comes back to Wisdom Gym for a Saturday showdown against LeTourneau at 11 a.m. at Wisdom Gym. 

In addition to the traditional fun-filled activities planned at Wisdom Gym, fans will have the opportunity to get the Texans' autographs following the game. Players and coaches will sign complimentary schedule posters for fans postgame. 

The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and fans can listen to Clayton Neville's radio call on Tarleton Sports Network. Neville will have a 30-minute pregame show starting at 10:30 a.m. and a 30-minute postgame show will follow each game. 

MATCHUP NOTES
  • This will be the first meeting between Tarleton and LeTourneau in program history.
  • Tarleton will look to bounce back after a home loss to Texas State Wednesday 71-59. 
  • LeTourneau is coming off a 76-85 loss to Concordia Texas Thursday night. 
  • Tarleton is in the top 100 in the nation in scoring defense and free throw percentage. The Texans knocked down a season-high 27 free throws in their last game against Texas State. 
PEAK PERFORMER
  • Tarleton State signed former Mary Hardin-Baylor star Arieona Rosborough this past season. 
  • In just her second game, Rosborough scored a season-high 21 points at Arizona (11/7), the second 20-point performance against a Power 4 conference opponent in program history. 
  • After her second 20-point outing of the season against Nicholls (11/30), the senior guard was named to the Fleur-De-Lis All-Tournament Team in the 2024 Big Easy Classic. 
  • She earned a plethora of honors at UMHB, including three times being named ASC All-Conference First Team, ASC Player of the Year, and ASC Defensive Player of the Year. 
  • She was twice named to ASC All-Conference Defensive Team, ASC Freshman of the Year, Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball Non-DI All-Texas Defensive Player of the Year, WBCA All-America Honorable Mention, and D3hoops.com First Team All-Region. 
  • She played 80 career games (74 starts) for the Cru, averaging 15.1 points and eclipsing the 1,000-point mark by scoring 1,210 career points. 
FANTASTIC FREEBIES
  • Tarleton has made great use of its opportunities from the charity strike this season, hitting over 72% of their free throws as a team. The Texans are in the top 100 in the nation in free throw percentage and are second in that category in the WAC. 
  • The Texans have had three straight games between Nov. 26-30 where they have shot at least 81% from the free throw line. Tarleton went 2-1 during those games and made 39-of-45 free throws for 86.6%. 
  • Tarleton shot 10-of-12 from the free throw line in the third quarter for 83.3% against Nicholls (11/30). They went on to go 17-for-19 from the charity strike, shooting a season-high 89.5%. 
  • This is the first time since Jan. 11-19, 2023 the Texans have had three consecutive games shooting at least 81% from the free throw line. 
  • Tarleton made a season-high 27 free throws against Texas State (12/4). 
NEW FRIENDS IN FAMILIAR TERRITORY 
  • Tarleton State plays nine opponents from the state of Texas this season, meeting three of them for the first time in program history. 
  • The Texans have met UTEP (L, 49-52 on Nov. 4) and Houston Christian (W, 48-42) for the first time in program history. 
  • Tarleton State faces LeTourneau for the first time in the regular season in program history.
  • The Texans have a record of 1-1 this season against Texas teams they played for the first time. 
  • Tarleton State will travel 1,092 miles to play its opponents from Texas during the 2024-25 season. 
  • Tarleton State will visit six of the top seven largest cities in Texas in 2024-25 (Dallas/Fort Worth is counted due to the Texans flying either from Love Field and/or DFW Airport when traveling by airplane).
