STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Soccer closes their non-conference slate with a Thursday morning matchup against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions at 11 a.m.

Fans will be welcomed for Pastries on the Pitch, courtesy of Cold Smoke prior and during the contest. Cold Smoke will have morning drinks and pastries for fans to grab before taking in some soccer as well as heading to class.
Last week, the Texans split their road trip posting a 1-1 record. Tarleton ended the week its sixth shutout of the season, a 2-0 victory at Houston Christian.
Lexi Gonzales notched her first collegiate goal of her career, scoring in the final minute of the first half.
Sam Liaty notched her first collegiate assist finding Gonzales in the middle of the box for the goal.
Reegan Wagg tallied her second goal of the season, firing from just outside the box to score the insurance goal for the Texans.
Goalkeeper
Mikayla Kendall leads WAC goalies with 875 minutes played and ranks 3
rd in the nation. She touts a 0.617 GAA which is third in the league and 51
st in the country. She has totaled 53 saves, the most in the conference and ranks seventh in the NCAA. Kendall is second in the league and 18
th in the nation with four shutouts. She also has two combined shutouts with fellow keeper
Rylie Bloomfield. The junior is ranks 11
th among active D1 goalies with 5.31 career saves per game.
The Purple and White are 39
th in the NCAA in goal differential, +13 which also leads the conference. The Texans rank 46
th in the nation with 19 total goals and lead the WAC. TSU leads the WAC in shots on goal per game (7.18), points (49), fouls (6.82) and shot accuracy (.516). The squad ranks second in goals per game (1.73). The Texan goalkeepers rank 19
th in the nation and second in the WAC with a .897 save percentage. TSU ranks 33rd in the NCAA with a 5.45 GAA.
Head coach
Pete Cuadrado is in his 21st season as a collegiate head coach with Tarleton his third stop on his journey. He started his career at North Dakota State before spending time at Wyoming. During his career, he has amassed 183 wins, with 14 of those coming in the first three seasons of the Tarleton program.
Cuadrado retained both of his assistants from the previous two seasons and added a new face to the staff ahead of the 2024 campaign. Assistant coaches
Rex Carrell and
Delaney Castor will be on the sidelines for their third season, while Carrell was also a part of the building of the team in 2021, marking 2024 his fourth year with the program. Cuadrado added Stephenville native and retired professional soccer player Bailey Chaviers ahead of the season. Chaviers spent three years at The U, before heading overseas to play two seasons in Iceland. She then returned to the United State for the 2023 season but was injured during the preseason for the Chicago Red Stars.
Tarleton State will enjoy a well-deserved break, resting nine days before its next match. After playing 12 matches in a span of 30 days, the Texans will start their WAC slate on Saturday, Sept. 28 at home against Utah Valley. Kick is slated for 12 p.m. from the Tarleton Soccer Complex.
