Tarleton State Tennis travels to San Antonio for UIW Fall Tournament

SAN ANTONIO - Tarleton State Tennis continues its fall schedule this weekend, heading south to compete in the University of the Incarnate Word Fall Tournament starting Friday.

The Texans return to action following a strong showing at the 2025 WAC Fall Invitational, where Tarleton State swept both the singles and doubles crowns. Tarleton State has now posted top finishes in back-to-back fall tournaments and continues to build momentum heading toward the spring dual season.

Tarleton State (13-8 last season) holds a 6-3 all-time advantage over Incarnate Word, including victories in each of the past two meetings. In their most recent matchup last spring, Tarleton State cruised to a 6-1 road win behind dominant performances in both singles and doubles play.

In that match, the Texans swept all three doubles courts to claim the opening point. Tarleton State went on to win five of six singles matches, highlighted by straight-set wins from Maretha Burger, Emma Persson, Maria Castano, Noelia Lorca, and Adeliya Mukhutdinova.

This weekend, Tarleton State will feature a deep and experienced lineup anchored by seniors Ximena Morales, Clara Sobius and Adeliya Mukhutdinova. Senior Emma Persson will not compete in San Antonio this weekend.

Morales (11-6 in singles, 11-3 in doubles last season) and Mukhutdinova (13-5 singles, 4-1 doubles) continue to provide leadership at the top of the order. Sobius has (11-4 doubles) also established herself as a consistent contributor.

Incarnate Word will look to bounce back after dropping the last two meetings with Tarleton State. The Cardinals return experienced players Lyric Bonilla, Amelie Montalvo, and Smilia Matovic, who each earned singles wins in their fall schedule.

This matchup marks another key test in Tarleton State's fall campaign as head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron continues to evaluate her rotation ahead of the spring dual season. Now in her seventh year leading the program, Douglas-Miron holds an 83-39 career record and has established the Texans as a rising power in the Western Athletic Conference.

First serve from San Antonio is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday at the UIW Tennis Complex.
