STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Tennis head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron introduced the four latest additions to the 2026-27 roster.
The Texans added four international freshmen from four different countries. Tarleton State is coming off its first-ever Division I conference tournament title and first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2026.
Anna Huisgen - France
For the first time since 2024, Tarleton State will have a French player on its roster. Huisgen was a three-year varsity tennis player at CNED in Thionville for head coach Yannick Vandenbulcke. She also competed regularly in the French Championships.
At the club level, Huisgen played for TC Arquebusiers from 2023-26. The Thionville, France, native also excelled in track & field.
"We are thrilled to welcome Anna to Texan Nation," Douglas-Miron said. "She brings a combination of talent and energy that elevates everyone around her. Anna wanted to be part of a winning program, and we have no doubt she will help us continue to build something special here in Stephenville."
Erika Abraham-Nilsen - Norway
Born in Norway but growing up in Spain, Erika Abraham-Nilsen has had a plethora of international tennis experience. Abraham-Nilsen is a two-time Norwegian National Doubles Champion to go with a mixed doubles and singles title at her country's national level. She has also claimed ITF doubles titles in Italy, Morocco and Spain.
Abraham-Nilsen represented Norway on the national team. She helped her country in the European Championships in 2022-24.
"Erika is exactly the type of competitor we want in our program," Douglas-Miron said. "From the moment I watched her play, it was clear she outworks everyone on the court. Her drive to get better every single day, paired with the kind of personality that makes you want to be around her, makes her a perfect fit for our program."
Nuria Lafitte-Valls - Spain
Ranked in the top 150 in Spain, Lafitte-Valls will be the second player in the program's Division I era to come from Spain. Lafitte-Valls has consistently held a top 40 regional ranking in Spain.
The Barcelona, Spain, native has competed against Spain's top talent, including the Women's World Tennis Tour in Sabadell, Spain.
"I'm very excited to welcome Nuria to Stephenville. She is aggressive, disciplined, and smart on the court. She plays the game on her terms and competes at a high level. Her ability to combine hard work with court awareness is going to make her a force in our lineup from day one."
Aruzhan Nuranbay - Kazakhstan
Aruzhan Nuranbay will arrive in Stephenville as the first Texan from Kazakhstan in the Division I era. Nuranbay not only was part of the Team Championship of Kazakhstan that won in 2023, but she also won a bronze medal at the Kazakhstan Championship in doubles.
After winning the J60 in doubles, Nuranbay also won in doubles at the Cholpon Ata J30 tournament in 2024 and was a singles finalist in that event. She also finished as a doubles finalist in the J60 Dushanbe, Karaganda, and Fergana tournaments and won the J60 Cholpon Ata doubles tournament. Nuranbay also placed third in the Summer Championship of Kazakhstan in 2025.
"From day one, it was clear that Aruzhan loved tennis and had a hunger to grow," Douglas-Miron said. "She's worked hard to elevate her game and has competed with the best players in Kazakhstan. Her values of hard work and wanting to compete were exactly what I was looking for in a player. We can't wait to see her thrive here."
