Tarleton State Tennis travels to Oklahoma to face Oral Roberts Friday

TULSA, Okla. —Tarleton State Tennis travels to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to play Oral Roberts on Friday at the Bernis Duke Tennis Center at 1 pm.

Tarleton State, who is currently ranked No.1 in the WAC, will enter Friday's matchup with a 6-3 record and a two-match win streak. Tarleton State had great success in their last match against New Mexico, winning 5-1. The Texans picked up a pair of victories in doubles and followed up with four wins in singles to secure its sixth win of the season and remain undefeated in Stephenville.

For the third time this year, Maretha Burger and Emma Persson were named the WAC Doubles Team of the Week on Tuesday. Burger and Persson won their lone match at the No. 1 doubles spot last week, helping Tarleton State win a 5-1 team over New Mexico State last Saturday. The duo helped Tarleton State clinch the doubles point against New Mexico, the third consecutive match the Texans took the doubles portion of a game.

This is the seventh weekly honor the Texans have obtained from the WAC this season. They have swept both the singles and doubles weekly awards twice. Six different Texans received either a singles or a doubles player of the week award from the WAC in 2025.

Against New Mexico, Senior Noelia Lorca and junior Ximena Morales helped the Texans clinch the doubles point, winning in the No. 2 doubles spot 6-2 to move Tarleton State in front 1-0 in the match. Lorca/Morales picked up their third win of the season as a double's duo.

Junior Clara Sobius won in straight sets at the No. 6 singles spot 6-2, 6-4 to clinch her fourth singles victory of the season.

Junior Adeliya Mukhutdinova continued the Texans' dominance in singles and picked up her sixth win of the season, the second-most on the team. Mukhutdinova came up with her fifth bagel (6-0 set) of the season in set one and won set two via tiebreak for a straight sets victory 6-0, 7-6 (5). Tarleton State dominated in singles play, not losing a set in Saturday's match.

The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles are currently 2-8, having lost two matches last week to UT Arlington and North Texas. In doubles play, the Golden Eagles lost two matches to UNT before declaring the third unfinished. In singles, Oral Roberts lost three matches in each match before declaring the other three unfinished.

Live scoring will be available through iOnCourt and the match will be live streamed on WAC International.
