BRYAN, Texas – After a month away from competition, Tarleton State Men's Golf is back in action for the Aggie Invitational April 12-13 at Traditions Golf Club.

Tarleton State will make its first appearance at the Aggie Invitational and will compete alongside 11 other schools, including last year's tournament champion, Baylor. The Bears finished six shots ahead of host school Texas A&M in last year's event. The Aggies' Jaime Montojo split last year's individual title with Louisiana Tech's Niilo Maki-Petaja with a 1-over-par 217.

The Texans are coming off a season-best seventh-place finish (out of 17 schools) at the Bandon Dunes Invitational, where six golfers compiled a 891 54-hole team score. Their score narrowly edged out ACC school Boston College (893) and WAC opponent Utah Tech (894).

Senior Alvaro Huidobro led the way individually with a sixth-place finish, hitting 5-over-par. It was the fourth time in seven competitions, dating back to the fall, that Huidobro was the top-finishing Texan. The Spaniard recorded six birdies, plus an eagle in the first round of the final hole.

Other standouts from Bandon include sophomore Juan Ballester, who recorded his best finish as a Texan. He tied for 13th for his first top 20 finish of the season while posting a season-low 18-hole score of 71.

Senior Carson Gallaher finished top 25 individually for the third straight tournament. He tied for 21st with a 223 54-hole score, shooting 1-over-par in the tournament's final round.

Freshmen Drew Ironside and Kellen Young tied for 61st and 71st, respectfully. Ironside matched his 233 54-hole score from the Desert Intercollegiate, and Young finished two strokes behind at 235.

Tarleton State will be up against eight returning schools from last year's Aggie Invitational. In last year's team standings, Baylor placed first, Texas A&M placed second, Sam Houston placed third, UTSA tied for fifth, Louisiana placed seventh, Louisiana Tech tied for eighth, Lamar placed 11th and New Mexico State placed 12th.

Of the 11 competitors, the Texans will face Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Louisiana Tech for the first time. Oklahoma enters the weekend ranked No. 7 nationally, collecting four team titles during the season. Texas A&M comes into its home event ranked No. 20 nationally and has tallied a pair of team titles in 2024-25.

Live scoring will be available through Scoreboard powered by Clippd. Tarleton State will tee off at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday.
