Trio of Tarleton State Men’s Golfers named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Men's Golf had three student-athletes from the 2024-25 season named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday.

Juan Ballester, Carson Gallaher and Alvaro Huidobro represented the Texans on the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars list, with all three earning Academic All-WAC honors earlier this year. Huidobro received his third career Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar award while Gallaher tallied his second career honor. Ballester is a first-time Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar recipient as a Texan.

The honor marks the third consecutive season Tarleton State has seen at least three student-athletes named as a Cobalt Golf All-American Scholar.

To be eligible for a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

556 NCAA Division I athletes from 190 schools earned 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors.

Tarleton State completed the 2024-25 season with three top 10 finishes as a team, five individual top 10 performances and 12 top 20 individual placements. The Texans finished in the top four as a team at the WAC Championship and had two top 10 individual finishers in the conference tournament. It is the second straight season Tarleton State has finished in the top four as a team and had at least two individuals place in the top 10 at the WAC Championship.
