12 tournaments slated for Tarleton State Men’s Golf’s 2025-26 schedule

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Men's Golf will play a Division I program-high 12 tournaments in its 2025-26 schedule that was announced Friday. 

The Texans will travel to nine different states to play its 12 events, with four tournaments taking place in Texas. Tarleton State will return to three tournaments it played in last season while traveling to eight new events before the WAC Championship. 

Head coach Chance Cain takes his 2025-26 team to open the season in Coalville, Utah at the Utah Invitational Sept. 15-16. Cain served as an assistant coach for six seasons at the University of Utah before leading the Texans, helping the Utes rank in the top 50 nationally and a berth to the NCAA West Regional in 2021. 

After competing in the University of New Mexico's William H. Tucker Intercollegiate (Sept. 19-20), the Texans will travel to a pair of familiar events. Tarleton State will compete in the University of Colorado's Mark Simpson Invitational (Sept. 29-30) for the second straight year before going to the Oregon State Invitational (Oct. 14-15). The Texans will make their fourth straight trip to the Oregon State Invitational, competing in the event in every one of its Division I season. 

The Texans will finish the fall campaign with a trip to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for the FAU Invitational (Oct. 27-28) at Panther National. Designed by professional golfers Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas, Panther National is regarded by many as one of the top golf courses in the country. 

Opening the spring season with its first trip to the Lone Star State, the Texans will take part in the Bentwater Intercollegiate (Feb. 9-10) in Montgomery, Texas, for the third straight year. The Texas trip continues Feb. 16-17 in Laredo for the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club, one of the premiere tournaments in collegiate golf. 

Following the Golden Nugget Invite (March 2-3) in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the Texans will make its first appearance in the All-American Intercollegiate (March 16-17) at the Golf Club of Houston. Regular season tournament action wraps up with a trip to Tennessee for the Memphis Intercollegiate (March 30-31) and Missouri for the Tiger Intercollegiate (April 6-7). 

The Texans will only have to travel 115 miles for the 2026 WAC Championship April 27-29, heading to The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The Texans finished in the top four as a team at the 2025 WAC Championship and had two top 10 individual finishers in the conference tournament. It is the second straight season Tarleton State has finished in the top four as a team and had at least two individuals place in the top 10 at the WAC Championship.

Tarleton State completed the 2024-25 season with three top 10 finishes as a team, five individual top 10 performances and 12 top 20 individual placements. The Texans return three letterwinners from last season to mesh with a group of young, talented newcomers.
