STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Athletics longtime staff member
Troy Jones will retire from his role as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, the Texans announced on Wednesday.
Jones' last day at Tarleton State will be Sunday, Aug. 31, as he ends a 27-career with the Texans.
"I appreciate Tarleton State for everything this great university has done for me and my family," Jones said. "These past 27 years have provided so many memories, and now it's time for a new chapter in my life. Thank you to all who have worked beside me and supported Tarleton State throughout my time here."
Among a wide array of duties over 27 years, Jones has served as the supervisor for the football, men's basketball, cheer and dance programs, plus has served as the game administrator for all of Tarleton State's home games and events.
"I've had the pleasure of working with
Troy Jones for the past year-and-a-half, and we will miss his work ethic, service-first mentality and sense of humor around our office," Vice President and Director of Athletics
Steve Uryasz said. "To work anywhere for 27 years is special, and Troy has been a key member of Tarleton State that entire time."
Jones graduated from Tarleton State in 1992 and began his Tarleton State Athletics career as the women's golf head coach in 1998. He transitioned into administration and helped Tarleton State grow into a premier NCAA program, starting as the Assistant to the Athletic Director for Internal and External Operations. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Internal and External Operations, then to Assistant Athletic Director for Operations, then to Associate Athletic Director, before earning the title of Sr. Associate Athletic Director.
Tarleton State Athletics will announce Jones' replacement on Thursday.
