STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State Women's Soccer started off their five-game homestead with a win this afternoon, beating Incarnate Word 4-1.Â
Senior Jaycie Bass put the first score on the board for the Texans with the help of Stevie Reynolds. In just the 12th minute of the game, Bass passed the ball over to Reynolds at the top of the box. Reynolds immediately passed the ball back to Bass, who fired a shot into the left side of the net.Â
Minutes later, Sammy Schulze scored another goal for the Purple and White with an assist from Avery Harr. Harr launched the ball from the left edge of the goal area. Off the fingertips of the Cardinal's goalkeeper, Schulze was on the back side to put it into the net.Â
The Cardinals broke through with 14 minutes left in the first half, as Taylor Kish scored off a corner kick from Lillian Beckham.Â
In the 51st minute, Bass scored a second goal for the Texans, this time with an assist by Schulze. After receiving the ball from Schulze, Bass crossed the ball from the right sideline to find the back of the net.Â
Reynolds closed out the match with an unassisted goal, her sixth goal of the season. Reynolds took the shot from almost the same spot as Bass, hitting it off the back post to bring the score to 4-1.Â
Emma Barnes and Mikayla Kendall recorded a combined three saves for the Texans. Tarleton State took 13 shots compared to Incarnate Word's 10 shots, with eight of them shot on goal.Â
The Texans continue their five-game homestand on Thursday against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi at 7:30 p.m. Fans in attendance will receive purple rally towels while supplies last. Then on Sunday, Tarleton State will host their Bounce Back Brunch for their matchup with McNeese at 1 p.m.Â
