Tarleton State Men’s Golf earns Platform Golf Team Academic Award from GCAA

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Men's Golf has earned the 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf All-Academic Team award from the Golf Coaches Association of America, the organization announced Tuesday.

It is the second academic honor the Texans received from GCAA in 2024-25, with Juan Ballester, Carson Gallaher and Alvaro Huidobro collecting All-America Scholar honors earlier this year. All three student-athletes were named to the Academic All-WAC Team in 2025.

To receive the PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, a school must average a team GPA of 3.0 or above. A GCAA-record 292 schools across six divisions earned a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award.

Tarleton State completed the 2024-25 season with three top 10 finishes as a team, five individual top 10 performances and 12 top 20 individual placements. The Texans finished in the top four as a team at the WAC Championship and had two top 10 individual finishers in the conference tournament. It is the second straight season Tarleton State has finished in the top four as a team and had at least two individuals place in the top 10 at the WAC Championship.

The Texans will play a Division I program-high 12 tournaments in 2025-26 starting Sept. 15. Tarleton State returns three letterwinners from last season to mesh with a group of young, talented newcomers.

Established in 1958, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) is the professional organization of men's collegiate golf coaches. The GCAA's mission is to support its member coaches from six divisions, including the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA, by creating educational opportunities, providing resources, and promoting its members with the purpose of enhancing their overall performance as coaches, mentors, and teachers. The GCAA also recognizes the excellence and achievements of its members and their student-athletes in academic, athletic, and civic endeavors.
