Tarleton State Men’s Golf completes first tournament of 2025-26 at the Wohali

COALVILLE, Utah – Tarleton State Men's Golf finished its first tournament of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, competing in the Wohali hosted by the University of Utah at the Wohali Golf Club.

The Texans finished 13th with a 54-hole score of 897, facing five teams who finished in the top 25 national rankings last season. Arizona State, who finished No. 3 in the national rankings and fifth in match play at the NCAA Championship last year, co-won the event with the University of New Mexico. The University of Utah claimed third place while BYU captured fourth and K-State finished in fifth.

Sophomore Luis Buech was Tarleton State's top finisher, tying for 34th with a 54-hole score of 221. Buech, a transfer from the University of New Mexico, had 11 birdies in his Texan debut.

Redshirt freshman Alvaro Pastor Roman tied for 44th in his Texan debut with a 54-hole score of 223. The Spaniard finished off his first tournament at Tarleton State with an even par 71 in the third round.

Junior Juan Ballester finished tied for 60th with a 54-hole score of 231. Freshman Maximilian Bjornstrom compiled a 232 54-hole score to tie for 64th while sophomore Kellen Young tied for 66th with a 236 54-hole score.

Tarleton State continues its fall campaign this week, traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate starting Friday.
