Tarleton State Tennis announces Fall 2025 schedule

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Tennis will play five events in five different cities in Fall 2025 starting Sept. 12.

The Texans will play at tournaments hosted by McNeese, Abilene Christian and UIW and compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth starting Oct. 9. Tarleton State will also take part in the second-ever Western Athletic Conference Tennis Invitational starting Oct. 16 in Utah.

Fall tennis begins at McNeese for the Cowgirl Invitational in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Sept. 12-14. McNeese's coaching staff features two former Texans in head coach Sonia Carlson (former assistant) and recent Texan standout Noelia Lorca, who enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Cowgirls.

After the ACU Invite Sept. 26-28 in Abilene, Tarleton State will take on Texas' top talent in the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth Oct. 9-14. The Texans had success in last year's ITA Regional Championships, with Emma Persson advancing to the Round of 16 and Duru Kuscu qualifying for the main draw as a true freshman. An All-Texan doubles final was featured in the consolation draw, with Persson/Lorca defeating Ximena Morales and Maria Castano 8-6 to clinch the draw.

Tarleton State will look for repeat success at the WAC Tennis Invitational Oct. 16-18 in St. George, Utah. The Texans captured the first-ever WAC Tennis Invitational singles title last season, with Lorca earning an automatic bid to the ITA Conference Masters Championship in Rome, Georgia.

The Texans' fall schedule wraps up with the UIW Fall Tournament in San Antonio Oct. 31-Nov. 2.

Tarleton State's 2025-26 roster features six returning letterwinners and three talented newcomers. The Texans' lineup features three All-WAC players from last year, including Castano, the reigning WAC Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-WAC selection. Seniors Adeliya Mukhutdinova (singles) and Persson (doubles) earned second team All-WAC honors a year ago.

Under head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron in five years at the Division I level, Tarleton State has won the WAC Coach of the Year award, the WAC Player of the Year award, the WAC Freshman of the Year award twice, and 18 All-Conference honors (eight Singles All-WAC First Team, one Doubles All-WAC First Team, seven Singles All-WAC Second Team, two Doubles All-WAC Second Team). The Texans have also earned 47 midseason monthly or weekly awards (four Singles Player of the Month, one Doubles Team of the Month, 20 Singles Player of the Week, and 22 Doubles Team of the Week).
